If your eyes sting and burn, look red, or feel gritty -- as if some sand is stuck in them -- you may have dry eye. This condition can happen when the tiny glands in and around your eyelids don't make enough tears to keep your peepers healthy and vision clear. When tears do their job well, they keep the surface of the eye smooth, comfortable, and hydrated, and wash away dust and debris and protect it from infection. Healthy eyes make tears all day, every day, to stay moist. But sometimes certain diseases, medications, or even just getting older causes your eyes to make fewer tears. Dry eye can also happen when your eyes don't make the right type of tears to clear out particles or keep the surface well-lubricated. What you do to make your baby blues, browns, or greens more comfortable depends on what's causing your dry eyes. More extensive testing can include a tread mill test (TMT), Hepatitis B test, TSH for thyroid, ultrasound abdomen. You can also get your blood group checked. Your eye check up would be worthwhile, as most people need reading glasses after the age of 40 years. Also discuss with the doctor regarding adult vaccinations. The cost of the tests would vary at different places from Rs. 2,000-4,000 approximately depending on the extent of tests that you undergo. Larger hospitals have packages, which can prove cheaper than doing the individual tests separately.

C hildren and teens need even more. And despite the notion that our sleep needs decrease with age, most older people still need at least 7 hours of sleep. Since older adults often have trouble sleeping this long at night, daytime naps can help fill in the gap. It's possible to eliminate many minor sleep problems by creating a comfortable sleep environment, maintaining a healthful balance of nutrition and exercise, and engaging in relaxing activities near bedtime. Keeping a regular sleep scheduleeven on weekendsmaintains the timing of the body's internal clock and can help you fall asleep and wake up more easily. Even if real life stands in the way of achieving the perfect sleep routine, making just a few small changes can improve your sleep dramatically.
